The innovative project “Women for the Green Transition” aims to empower rural women by equipping them with practical knowledge and skills that will enable them to actively contribute to the sustainable development of their communities. It responds to the need for women’s inclusion in environmental initiatives, as they are not always involved in decision‑making processes or provided with access to relevant knowledge.
This proposal aligns with the call’s objective to support vulnerable groups — in this case, rural women — and the funding will create opportunities for learning, mentoring, and collective engagement.
The main activities, structured around the pillars of knowledge, practical application/action, and continuous development, will run for 12 months and includes:
- A three‑hour introductory theoretical and interactive seminar covering key concepts such as climate change, circular economy, sustainable development, renewable energy, resource efficiency, fire prevention, and more.
- Five practical training workshops on:
- Basic principles of recycling and proper waste separation
- Creating natural, chemical‑free cleaning products
- Zero‑waste cooking
- Composting (natural and assisted methods)
- Traditional, organic, and resilient crops
- Visits to environmentally conscious businesses.
- Mentoring services for the development of green enterprises.
- Creation of local action groups.
- A networking and knowledge‑sharing event in Paphos.
- A public networking and results‑presentation event in Larnaca.
