Markos Kontopoulos (born 19/12/2006) is a Cypriot Olympic shooting athlete in Olympic Skeet. He is a member of the Larnaca Shooting Organization and the Cyprus Shooting Federation and is considered one of the sport’s most promising emerging athletes internationally, already leaving an impressive mark despite his young age.
In 2023 he won the silver medal at the World Championships, and in the same year he was recognized as the youngest ever world champion athlete and world champion at a World Championship—an achievement of particular importance for his Olympic path and career. In 2024 he placed 4th at the World Championships, being referred to as world champion athlete and world champion for the second consecutive time, confirming his consistent presence in the world elite of Olympic Skeet.
In 2025 he added another major distinction, winning the silver medal at the European Championships. At team level, he has won two gold medals at the European Championships, in 2024 and 2025, contributing decisively to the national team’s successes and, overall, to Cyprus’s achievements.
Markos is in his first year of undergraduate studies in Computing at UCLAN University.
